The Paying Forward Foundation was founded on the premise that each of us has the ability to change the world for the better. Paying forward is the act of using our talents to help others, not because we owe them a favor, but simply because we have the ability to do so. Paying forward differs from paying back in several ways. Paying back has limitations; paying forward is boundless. Paying back implies obligation; paying forward represents a sincere desire to help. Paying back is about making things even; paying forward is about making things better. Our main focus currently is addressing the critical nursing shortage in the health care industry. Nurses play a vital role in our health care system, and the under-staffing of nurses in hospitals today often results in substandard care to patients. We are raising money to establish scholarship funds for nursing students and nurses studying to become nurse practitioners.
